Extra Space offers a program that allows employees to voluntarily donate unused PTO time into a bank that can be utilized in the future by employees in need due to medical emergencies.
Care to Share?
If you have PTO in excess of 40 hours that you would like to donate to fellow coworkers in need, you can do so at any time by sending a completed donation form to Total Rewards. Hours will be provided to eligible employees who miss work due to medical emergencies for themselves or a covered family member.
In need of help?
Employees in good standing can request assistance from this program due to missed work for their own or covered family members’ medical emergencies. A covered family member is defined as an employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent. Requests are approved at the sole discretion of the program review committee. Medical documentation may be required to support a request.
A medical emergency is considered an unplanned, unforeseeable event that results in missing work for a week or more. Medical events that would typically be covered under the company short-term disability or state disability plans, will be excluded. Employees who are eligible to receive short term disability or workers compensation benefits through the company or their state are eligible for limited donations only in this program.
Birth of a child is not considered an unplanned, unforeseeable event.
